RGG Studio utilized the Dragon Engine to build Yakuza Kiwami 2 from the ground up in 2017, implementing higher resolution visuals and new gameplay features. An additional scenario, titled "The Majima Saga," takes place prior to the events depicted in the game.
The Yakuza and Yakuza 2 soundtrack compilation album by Sega Sound Team members is streaming on Spotify and YouTube Music, and Amazon Music Unlimited. Music is by composed by Hidenori Shoji, Yuri Fukuda, Chihiro Aoki, Saori Yoshida, among other artists.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 is currently available for PS4 and Xbox One consoles. The Windows edition is verified for use with the Steam Deck.
