The roguelike cinematic action game by Helsinki-based developer Housemarque features gameplay inspired by classic bullet-hell shoot-em-ups. "A key gameplay distinction between Saros and Returnal is permanent resources and progression making every death valuable," says creative director Gregory Louden.
"After every death you will face a changed world, but in SAROS you will be able to choose and permanently upgrade your loadout from an evolving set of weapons and suit parts to 'come back stronger' to overcome the challenges you face on Carcosa."
Sony Interactive Entertainment, in collaboration with Milan Records, published "Sun Is Forever," featuring London-based experimental vocal ensemble Shards. The single from the upcoming Saros Original Soundtrack is available for streaming on Apple Music, YouTube Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music Unlimited.
The soundtrack album, described as "dark-electronic meets drone-metal," is composed by Berlin-based British composer Sam Slater, whose previous work includes co-composing the Battlefield 2042 score with Hildur Guðnadóttir.
"I wanted a piece that felt like the sky opening when you stare at the Eclipse," Slater wrote, describing "Sun Is Forever. "The result was realised in the studio with Shards, their voices bending and waving to Carcosa’s strange world as Ben Greenberg and Randal Dunn’s thunderous guitars rip the sky apart."
Saros is available for PlayStation 5 consoles, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
