Community mods on the Steam Workshop support multiple soundtrack options. They include the original score by Daisuke Amaya aka Pixel, alternative heavy metal soundtrack by Ridiculon, Famitracks (NES+VRC6 styled) arrangements by Rushjet1, and Cave Story 3D remaster by Danny Baranowsky.
Also supported is the WiiWare mix by Yann van der Cruyssen (Morusque), streaming via nurykabe.com, with remastering volunteered by Solomael in light of WiiWare technical constraints.
Holiday-themed spin-off title Cave Story's Secret Santa for Windows PC is verified for use with the Steam Deck.
A cowardly Mimiga named Santa joins Balrog in returning presents to Christmas trees in twenty unique homes across three familiar zones. Santa can push or pull obstacles, turn light switches on and off, and pry open ventilation shafts. The stealth freeware title invites players to sneak past patrolling Gaud to locate cookies for Santa to consume.

After Balrog recovers the Christmas presents that were stolen by Chaba, the cowardly Mimiga named Santa must sneak into every home and return the missing packages. As he tiptoes past the beds of sleeping residents and avoids being seen by patrolling Gaudi, Santa finds useful items, eats delicious cookies and places the gifts under the Christmas trees where they belong.
