Seattle-based developer Ironwood Studios' Pacific Drive has launched for Windows and PlayStation 5 consoles. Keplar Interactive, whose previous releases include Sifu and Tchia, will serve as publisher for the studio's debut title.
Set in the Pacific Northwest, Pacific Drive casts players in the role of a survivalist traversing the anomaly-filled Olympic Exclusion Zone. Utilizing a garage as a base of operations, the run-based driving game challenges players to scavenge for resources from abandoned research sites, while customizing and maintaining your trusty station wagon.
The launch trailer displays a heavy focus on atmosphere, with horror and sci-fi undertones. Each excursion into the wilderness, on the road toward unraveling a long-forgotten mystery, is visited by anomalous weather patterns, mysterious technologies, and severe radiation.
Handling original music is composer Wilbert Roget II, whose upcoming orchestral score for Star Wars Outlaws draws inspiration from the franchise's cinematic themes. In addition, Ironwood licensed tracks from fifteen local bands based in the Pacific Northwest. Mastering for the soundtrack album is by Jordan Fehr.
Pacific Drive is currently available for PlayStation 5, along with Windows through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The soundtrack album is streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music Unlimited.
