Co-developed by Sega AM2 and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown arrived in arcades on June 1st of 2021. The PlayStation 4 console remaster utilizes the Like a Dragon series' Dragon Engine. Coinciding with launch, Sega's record label Wave Master pressed the soundtrack on two compact discs, as part of the "SOUND! SHOCK SERIES” album series.
Disc 1 includes 29 music tracks from the esports remaster, while Disc 2 contains twelve music tracks from the original Virtua Fighter, composed by Takayuki Nakamura. The physical edition of the album ships from distributors CDJapan and Playasia.
