Dragon Quest VIII for Nintendo 3DS celebrates tenth anniversary of launch
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King for Nintendo 3DS launched ten years ago, on this date. Developed by Level-5 and directed by Akihiro Hino, the turn-based role-playing game debuted for the PlayStation 2 console in 2004.

The first series installment adopting the "Dragon Quest" moniker in the West introduced voice acting, along with fully 3D environments and character models. Level-5's specialized cel shading visual style allowed for colorful adaptions of the art designs by Akira Toriyama.

Symphonic Suite Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King features orchestral arrangements of music composed by Koichi Sugiyama. The album is streaming on Apple Music, featuring the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.

From the Nintendo product page:
A twisted jester has cast an evil spell over the kingdom of Trodain, turning the king into a troll, the princess into a horse and sealing Castle Trodain within enchanted vines! As the Hero, you’ll embark on a journey, recruiting allies along the way, to put a stop to this mischievous maniac and restore the kingdom to normal. Lead a party of heroes across a massive world and through dingy dungeons, clashing with hundreds of monsters along the way in classic turn-based battles.
