The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition supports 60 FPS performance, while optimized controls for Joy-Con 2 offer for more precise movement within Subnautica’s ocean environments. Owners of the Nintendo Switch software can upgrade at no additional cost.
Building on the lore of Subnautica, players explore otherworldly biomes to uncover the secrets of an alien civilization, investigating the mysterious disappearance of the protagonist's sister.
The Original Soundtrack is hosted on Bandcamp and Steam, spanning 54 tracks for a two-hour run time. Ominous, atmospheric music is by FTL: Faster Than Light composer Ben Prunty. The digital edition is streaming on Apple Music and Spotify.
"Many tracks have been expanded and nearly all have been specially mastered for the album," the composer comments, via Steam. "Vintage synths, kalimba, granular synthesis, lots of reverb, and the occasional waterphone all come together to evoke the mystery and loneliness of Planet 4546b."
Subnautica: Below Zero is also available for PS4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, with the physical release published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The PC edition for Windows and MacOS is hosted on Steam, verified for use with the Steam Deck. A mobile port for iOS and Android devices is scheduled for release on March 10th.
