Developed in collaboration with Xeen Inc., the full 3D remake reinterprets the story and gameplay of Romancing SaGa 2, launched in 1993 for the Super Famicom console. The turn-based role-playing game spans multiple generations of rule within the Empire of Varennes, featuring original and arranged music composed by Kenji Ito.
Through the Inheritance System, the player can select successive Emperors and pass down imperial powers through the generations. At the Imperial University in-game location, players can take part in imperial exams to gain crafting materials, or stream original and arranged music in the Odeum.
The Original Soundtrack ships on two compact discs from the Square Enix store for North America and Europe, along with distributor CDJapan. The "Making of the Game's Music" behind-the-scenes can be viewed on the publisher's YouTube channel.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is also available for Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PS4 and PlayStation 5, consoles. A free demo for the Windows PC edition is available through Steam.
