The port of the Game Boy Color compilation includes horizontal scrolling shoot-em-ups R-Type I and R-Type II, playable in either old school monochrome or color mode, alongside the “Ultimate Challenge” — daring the player to complete both missions back-to-back.
The “Ultimate Challenge” mode includes full soundtrack implementation, introducing brand-new stage-specific music by WASi303, making full use of actual handheld hardware sound chips. Quality-of-life features have been intended to make the gameplay accessible to players new to the game series, supporting rewind function, quick save, full power-ups on start, and a toggle for rapid-fire shots.
R-Type DX: Music Encore is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC through Steam. A crossfade music trailer is streaming on the publisher's YouTube channel.
From the Steam product page:
