Co-developed by Japan Studio and Pyramid, Patapon launched for PlayStation Portable, featuring sound design by Kemmei Adachi and Daisuke Miyake.
Adachi told the PlayStation Blog, "Congas and bongos just on their own didn’t seem satisfying enough, so we had to come up with a signature sound for Patapon. On top of the African instrumentation in the foreground, we mixed in percussive instruments from a lot of different countries."
In 2017, Sony published enhanced port Patapon Remastered for PS4. Patapon Remastered 2 followed in 2020, introducing new minigames. The original soundtrack albums are streaming on Spotify, YouTube Music and Amazon Music Unlimited, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
