Octopath Traveler arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1st
Developed by Square Enix and Acquire, Octopath Traveler arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1st with improved resolution and frame rate.

The HD-2D role-playing game follows eight adventurers' paths, four of them male and four female, playable in any order. Turn-based combat incorporates the Break & Boost battle system. Chipping away at an enemy's Shields causes Breaks, allowing players a window of opportunity to deal increased damage.

Octopath Traveler pioneered the HD-2D development framework. The distinctive visual aesthetic combines sprite-based, two-dimensional character art and three-dimensional polygonal terrains. These development techniques informed the design of LIVE A LIVE, Triangle Strategy, and Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.


Composed by Yasunori Nishiki, the "Recorded Journey" vinyl soundtrack ships from the Square Enix store for North America. Octopath Traveler is currently available for Windows PC though Steam and the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series X|S, PS4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.

Live performances from arrangement album "Break, Boost and Beyond Live" can be viewed on YouTube. The videos capture concert footage from "Main Theme," "The Frostlands," "Battle I," "Orewell, Beneath the Crags," "A Settlement in the Red Bluffs," and "Atlasdam, Seat of Learning."

In OCTOPATH TRAVELER, players will set forth on an epic adventure through the enchanting yet perilous continent of Orsterra, stretching across vast landscapes from lush forests, to desert outposts and snow-swept cathedrals. Featuring eight distinct characters each with their own tales to enjoy, ranging from journeys of self-discovery to quests for revenge, each traveler will start their journey in a different land so players can steer their own journey depending on whom they choose.
