Octopath pioneered the "HD-2D" development framework, producing a distinctive visual aesthetic that combines sprite-based character art with three-dimensional polygonal terrains. There are eight adventurers' paths to choose from, four male and four female, playable in any order.
The "Recorded Journey" vinyl soundtrack, composed by Yasunori Nishiki, ships from the Square Enix store for North America. The digital soundtrack is streaming on Spotify and Amazon Music Unlimited. Octopath Traveler is also available for Windows through Steam.
