Developed by SNK Playmore and Noise Factory, Metal Slug 7 arrived on the Nintendo DS portable console on the 22nd of July, 2008. The Original Soundtrack composed by Toshikazu Tanaka is available on streaming platforms, published by SNK.

In the seventh mainline series entry of the run-and-gun franchise, the nefarious General Morden has converted Scrap Island, a volcanic offshore landfill, into a secret military base. Before he can be apprehended by the Peregrine Falcons Squad, high-tech soldiers from the future emerge from a time portal to rescue the leader of the Rebel Army.

The playable roster of characters includes the Peregrine Falcons Squad members Marco Rossi and Tarma Roving. Joining them are S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S operatives Eri Kasamoto, and Fio Germi, Ikari Warriors Ralf Jones and Clark Still.

Metal Slug 7 provided the basis for enhanced port Metal Slug XX, adding the ability to play as Leona Heidern from King of Fighters as downloadable content. Metal Slug XX is currently available for Windows PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Series X|S consoles.
