Capcom has posted the Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess "Soh" gameplay trailer. Produced by Masato Kumazawa of Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways (2023), the single-player action-strategy game is directed by Shinsekai: Into the Depths art director Shuuichi Kawata.

The aesthetic of Kunitsu-Gami is inspired by kagura, a form of Shinto purification ritual. A day-and-night cycle divides the single-player game into complementary gameplay objectives. Protagonist Soh is entrusted with protecting Yoshiro the Maiden as she purifies the land, traversing the peaceful village of Mt. Kafuku during the day in preparation for nightfall.

At night, encroaching otherworldly enemies, known as the Seethe, stream in through Torii gates. The player issues orders to the villagers to protect the Maiden, selecting combat roles such as melee attacks or defensive maneuvers. The aim is to safely guide the Maiden to the Torii gates to cleanse the mountain of defilement and return peace to the land.

Kunitsu-Gami is scheduled for release on July 19th for PS4, PlayStation 5, and Windows through Steam. The Xbox One and Series X|S editions will be included with Game Pass.

From the product page:
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a unique Japanese-inspired, single player Kagura Action Strategy game.

The game takes place on a mountain covered by defilement. During the day, purify the villages and prepare yourself for sundown. During the night, protect the Maiden against the hordes of the Seethe.

Repeat the day and night cycle until you cleanse the mountain of defilement and return peace to the land.
