Tokyo-based record label Team Entertainment published the soundtrack to Gravity Rush on compact disc in March of 2012. The PlayStation Vita action game features music by Resonance of Fate composer Kohei Tanaka.

Led by Silent Hill director Keiichiro Toyama, development on Gravity Rush began in 2008 with the close collaboration of the music composer. The 47-track music score is available for streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music Unlimited, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Designer Junya Okura sought to integrate protagonist Kat's anti-gravity abilities into physics puzzle gameplay and exploration, while the visual style of the floating city of Hekseville was influenced by French science fiction and fantasy illustrator Jean Giraud (Moebius).
