Dragon Quest IV celebrates 36th anniversary of launch
Dragon Quest IV, the first entry in the Zenithian Trilogy, launched for the Nintendo Famicom home console 36 years ago, on this date. Developed by Chunsoft and directed by Koichi Nakamura, the turn-based role-playing game features character design by Akira Toriyama and scenario by Yuji Horii.

Developer Heartbeat developed the Sony PlayStation remake under the supervision of publisher Enix, launched in November of 2001 in Japan. ArtePiazza developed the Nintendo DS remake, published by Square Enix in November of 2007. The mobile port is currently available for iOS and Android devices.

Symphonic Suite Dragon Quest IV features orchestral arrangements of music composed by Koichi Sugiyama. The 14-track streaming album is hosted on Apple Music, featuring the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. The compact disc ships from distributor CDJapan.
