The launch trailer is streaming on the YouTube channel of Furi developer The Game Bakers, based in Montpellier. "Experience the challenge and exhilaration of climbing as you scale the vertiginous cliffs," reads the video description. "Climb anywhere and plan your route carefully, managing resources along the expedition.The whole mountain is yours to explore, filled with unexpected encounters and long lost mysteries."
Players are challenged to explore Mount Kami by charting out a route and keeping balance. Chalk, finger tape, food and water require careful management to maintain protagonist Aava's health and stamina. The Free Solo mode provides no rope, one life, and a deadly challenge.
The Game Bakers previously released the Cairn demo, showing the ghosts of other players climbing the tutorial location of Mount Tenzen alongside the player character, facilitating competition against speedrunners and dev team members.
Cairn Original Soundtrack is hosted on Bandcamp and Steam, composed by Martin Stig Andersen of Limbo and Inside, in collaboration with co-composers The Toxic Avenger and GILDAA. Preorders have opened for the vinyl soundtrack, shipping from G4F Records. Cover illustration is by Mathieu Bablet.
