FromSoftware action role-playing game Bloodborne launched exclusively for PlayStation 4 consoles in 2015, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki of Dark Souls. Inspired by gothic horror conventions and the literature of H. P. Lovecraft and Bram Stoker, the title takes place in the fictional city of Yharnam, struck by a horrific plague responsible for transforming its inhabitants into violent creatures.
Bloodborne Original Soundtrack and "The Old Hunters" EP are streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music Unlimited, published by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Music is composed by Tsukasa Saitoh, Yuka Kitamura, Nobuyoshi Suzuki, Ryan Amon, Cris Velasco, and Michael Wandmacher, recorded at Abbey Road Studios and AIR Studios, London.
A recording session behind-the-scenes can be viewed on the PlayStation YouTube channel.
From the Laced Records product page:
The Bloodborne soundtrack is a masterclass in choral-orchestral writing and horror textures. Sadness, fury, creeping dread, and faded grandiosity are all conveyed through boss music cues that are all the more impactful given that a significant amount of a player’s playtime is spent without underscore. Multiple composers from America and Japan collaborated to score the darkest corners of Yharnam and the nightmares beyond, including Ryan Amon, Yuka Kitamura, Tsukasa Saitoh, Nobuyoshi Suzuki, Cris Velasco, and Michael Wandmacher.Laced Records - Bloodborne Collection
