The Genji and the Heike Clans for PC Engine turns 36, today
Genpei Touma Den for PC Engine launched 36 years ago, on this date. Resurrected samurai protagonist Taira no Kagekiyo sets out for the capital city of Kamakura on multiple perilous missions to take down the demon-possessed Genji Clan and their king, Minamoto no Yoritomo.

The arcade side-scrolling action game was first localized for English-language regions with the release of the Namco Museum Vol. 4 compilation for Sony PlayStation, appearing as "The Genji and the Heike Clans." Hamster Corporation published Arcade Archives The Genji and the Heike Clans in 2021, available for PS4 and Nintendo Switch consoles.

The arcade soundtrack by Norio Nakagata is part of the Namco Legendary series. The 17-track album is streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music Unlimited, published by Bandai Namco Game Music.

From the Nintendo product page:
