The newly introduced expansion unfolds across six new biomes, with battles taking place across eight varied maps, and introducing four variant civilizations—the Golden Horde, the Macedonian Dynasty, the Sengoku Daimyo, and the Tughlaq Dynasty. The Dynasties of the East launch trailer is streaming on the Age of Empires YouTube channel.
Age of Empires IV Official Soundtrack is hosted on Steam, published by Xbox Game Studios, with streaming on YouTube Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music Unlimited. The album is produced by Lin Gardiner, principal audio designer at Relic Entertainment, in collaboration with production company Dynamedion. Music is co-composed by Tilman Sillescu, Alex Röder, Henning Nugel, Armin Haas, and Mikolai Stroinski.
"This concept phase landed with a plan to ‘reimagine’ four different versions of medieval music through different time periods" Gardner writes in "The Music of Age of Empires IV" for Audiokinetic Blog. "Starting in Age1 with a stripped-back, sparse, darker feel, the compositional and instrumental complexity gradually progresses as players move to the fourth and final age, at the brink of the Renaissance."
