Independent developer Pine Creek Games has announced cozy woodland survival game Winter Burrow, developed in the Unity game engine.

Five years in the making, Winter Burrow invites players to inhabit the role of a mouse searching for a lost family member. Players can customize the wardrobe of the mouse protagonist, venture out into the winter cold to collect resources, and decorate the interiors of the burrow, while unraveling the mystery of the missing aunt.

"With Winter Burrow, I want to create that place I imagined as a child," creative director Benjamin Salqvist told Xbox Wire. "To be a part of the miniature world and the enchanting life that happens between the gnarled roots of the trees. As a father, I’m happy to be able to give that back to my children. Both with trips out into nature from when they were very small and now seeing them play Winter Burrow and getting lost in that world.

Music for the isometric perspective adventure is composed by Andreas Busk. The launch is planned for this year for Windows through Steam and Xbox consoles with Game Pass, published by Noodlecake Studios.

From the product page:
In Winter Burrow, you play a mouse who returns from the big city to find their childhood home in ruins. To make matters worse, your Aunt (who was supposed to be looking after it) has gone missing. Restore your broken-down childhood burrow to its former glory so you can relax in front of the fireplace.

Brave the elements and journey out into the frozen wilderness to collect vital resources for both yourself and your new home. Beware of the insect wildlife and remember that nobody survives on their own; find new friends, expand your survival handbook and solve the mystery of what happened to your Aunt.
