Original music for both titles was composed in 1994~95 by Quake 4 audio lead Kevin Schilder. Developed by id Software and Nightdive Studios, the enhanced restoration adds two new episodes, titled Heretic: Faith Renewed and Hexen: Vestiges of Grandeur.
Multithreaded rendering supports up to 4K resolution and 120 FPS, while cross-platform online co-op and deathmatch allows for up to sixteen players. 'The Vault' gallery feature contains concept art, unused sprites, and behind-the-scenes materials.
Tome of Power (Official Heretic + Hexen Game Soundtrack) is hosted on Bandcamp, with streaming on Apple Music and Spotify. Programming, production, and arrangement are by Andrew Hulshult. In 2024 the musician scored IDKFA, a re-imagining of DOOM and DOOM II soundtracks by Bobby Prince.
Heretic + Hexen is also available for Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. The Windows PC edition is on Steam and GOG.com, verified for use with the Steam Deck. Nightdive Studios' deep dive with Id Software co-founder John Romero can be viewed on YouTube.
