The second entry in the Orochi trilogy introduced "Emergency Evasion" forward and backward rolls for more aggressive gameplay, replacing brief pause in the action associated with the previous dodge system.

ACA NEOGEO The King of Fighters '96 is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Series X|S consoles. Hamster Corporation's console port supports online leaderboards, with adjustable difficulty levels, along with quick save and load functionality.

The King of Fighters '96 Original Soundtrack is streaming on Spotify and YouTube Music. The 25-track album is composed by Shinsekai Gakkyoku Zatsugidan members, including Akihiro Uchida (ACKEY), Hideki Asanaka (SHA-V), and Kazuhiro Nishida (KENNY).
