Final Fantasy Type-0 debuted in Japan on October 27, 2011 for the PlayStation Portable console. The English-language localization of the action role-playing game, directed by Hajime Tabata, was postponed until the publication of the high-definition enhanced port for Windows PCs, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2015.

Tetsuya Nomura served as character designer, with art direction by Yusuke Naora. Eleven music tracks by Takeharu Ishimoto are available via the composer's SoundCloud channel, including "Tempus Bellum," "War: The White Weapon," "Machina Kunagiri," "Servant of the Crystal" and "The Beginning of the End."

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Original Soundtrack is streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube Music, published by Square Enix Music. A crossfade trailer can be viewed on the publisher's YouTube channel.
