Soulcalibur, the Soul Edge successor by Namco's internal development group Project Soul, arrived in arcades in 1998. A Dreamcast port of the weapon-based fighting game, adapted from the Namco System 12 arcade system board, launched the following year.

Bandai published Soulcalibur Original Soundtrack in October of 1999, pressed on two compact discs. The album features music by Junichi Nakatsuru, Yoshihito Yano, Akitaka Tohyama, Takanori Otsuka, and Hideki Tobeta. The 37-track digital soundtrack is now available for streaming on Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music Unlimited.

Soulcalibur is playable on Xbox One consoles with backward compatibility. The 20th anniversary trailer is streaming on Bandai Namco's YouTube channel.
