Siren 2 launched for PlayStation 2 on February 9th of 2006. Directed by Keiichiro Toyama, the stealth-based survival horror game was developed by Sony Computer Entertainment's Japan Studio.

Within playable flashback missions and cutscenes, we learn that the inhabitants of Yamijima Island vanished without a trace—an event referred to as the '1976 Yamijima Blackout Incident.' The main scenario unfolds three decades later as three separate characters experience life-threatening supernatural events on the island, unfolding in non-chronological order.

The English-language localization for PAL regions debuted later that year in Europe and Australia, titled "Forbidden Siren 2," with dual-audio options. Players could select between Japanese-language audio with English subtitles and English-language voiceovers.

The 52-track digital soundtrack by Kowloon's Gate composer Kuniaki Haishima is streaming on Spotify and Amazon Music Unlimited. Vocals on "Kōnagihishōka" are performed by Mai Takahashi. "Azteca Queen" is composed and performed by Eriko Azuma.
