The seventh mainline series installment shifts the survival horror gameplay to first person, situating players in the viewpoint of protagonist Ethan Winters. Receiving a video message from his wife Mia, who vanished three years earlier, Ethan investigates the Baker family estate situated in a remote rural area in Louisiana.
A developer interview on the making of "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" features commentary by lead music composer Akiyuki Morimoto and audio director Wataru Hachisako. Additional composers contributing to the score include Brian D'Oliveira, Cris Velasco, Miwako Chinone, Satoshi Hori, Michael A. Levine and Jordan Reyne.
The Gold Edition arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 in February, including DLC "Banned Footage Vol.1 & Vol.2" and "End of Zoe." The Windows edition is hosted on Steam, verified for use with the Steam Deck. Owners of the PS4 and Xbox One editions can upgrade to visually enhanced PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S editions at no additional cost, supporting 4K resolution, improved frame rate, and 3D audio.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is also available via the App Store for iPhone, iPad and Mac. The digital soundtrack and "Best Track Collection" albums are streaming on Apple Music and Spotify, published by Capcom.
