Hollow Knight: Silksong in development for Nintendo Switch 2
Adelaide-based game studio Team Cherry announced Hollow Knight: Silksong on Valentine’s Day in 2019. The long-awaited followup to the 2017 metroidvania title is planned for release later this year for Nintendo Switch 2.

The 2D platformer's is designed by Ari Gibson, William Pellen, and Jack Vine. Also returning for the sequel is music composer Christopher Larkin, whose Bandcamp page currently previews two themes from the upcoming release. "Lace" features energetic violin accompaniment, bristling with the intensity of a chase sequence. The sparse piano instrumentation of "Bonebottom" appears designed to complement exploration gameplay.

Hollow Knight: Silksong allows players to control the character Hornet, who served as an antagonist in the first game. The princess-protector of the ancient insect kingdom of Hallownest has been captured and must find her way through the perilous coral forests, mossy grottos, gilded cities and misted moors of the kingdom of Pharloom.

Development is underway for PS4 and PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series X|S consoles, along with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. Silksong is planned for release day one on Xbox Game Pass.

From the product page:
Play as Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest, and adventure through a whole new kingdom ruled by silk and song! Captured and brought to this unfamiliar world, Hornet must battle foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom’s peak.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is the epic sequel to Hollow Knight, the award winning action-adventure. As the lethal hunter Hornet, journey to all-new lands, discover new powers, battle vast hordes of bugs and beasts and uncover ancient secrets tied to your nature and your past.
