Developed by Tower Five, based in La Rochelle in France, real-time strategy game Empire of the Ants is built on Unreal Engine 5.

Inspired by Bernard Werber’s novel of the same name, one or two players are tasked with ensuring the prosperity of an ant colony of the Fontainebleau forest. Heading up strategic battles within a photo-realistic, microscopic environments, the ant colony can ally with dor beetles and maneuver around territorial firebugs, while pitted against rival termites.

"Additionally, numerous non-playable insects like slugs, butterflies, and dragonflies will bring the forest to life,” says Tower Five designer Lucas Poinsot.

The Original Game Soundtrack, composed by Mark Choi and Mathieu Alvado, spans 26 tracks. Published by Microids Records, the album is available for streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music Unlimited.

Empire of the Ants is planned for release later today for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, along with Windows through Steam, GOG.com and the Epic Games Store. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes 3-day early access, a digital artbook, HD wallpapers, and the soundtrack. A playable demo is available through Steam.
