Placing players in the roles of the descendants of Erdrick, the remake of the NES role-playing games incorporates the Octopath Traveler series' HD-2D art style, combining pixel art characters and 3D backgrounds. A newly introduced female character appears toward the ending of the teaser trailer streaming on the Dragon Quest YouTube channel, depicted both in pixel art and in the key art illustration by Naoki Ikushima.
Sugi Label's "Symphonic Suite Dragon Quest I" by series composer Koichi Sugiyama was published in collaboration with Aniplex in 2007, featuring the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. The compact disc ships from distributor CDJapan, alongside "Symphonic Suite Dragon Quest I & II" performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
