Placing players in the roles of the descendants of Erdrick, the remake of the NES role-playing games incorporates the Octopath Traveler series' HD-2D art style, combining pixel art characters and 3D backgrounds. A newly introduced female character appears toward the ending of the teaser trailer streaming on the Dragon Quest YouTube channel, depicted both in pixel art and in the key art illustration by Naoki Ikushima.
Developed by Artdink Corporation and Team Asano, the HD-2D remake will launch on October 30th for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S consoles, along with Windows through Steam. The seven-minute gameplay overview trailer provides details on the exploration, combat, and party lineup of the turn-based role-playing game.
