Masaya Games developed science fiction run-and-gun title Assault Suit Leynos for the for Sega Mega Drive console, published 35 years ago, on this date. Music for the game is composed by Half-Minute Hero executive producer Takayuki Suzuki, credited as T.Suzuki.

The English-language localization for the Sega Genesis, titled Target Earth, followed in June of 1990. Part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription service, the plot summary reads:
In Target Earth, enemy Chron cyborgs are attacking Earth and its space bases! Battle across eight different levels filled with exhilarating mech suit platforming action and customize your loadout by earning equipment based on your performance. Can you save the planet and uncover the true legacy of Chron?"
Dracue Co., Ltd. developed the Assault Suit Leynos remake, currently available for PlayStation 4 and Windows through Steam, published by Rising Star Games.
